It marked their first album of new material in sixteen years, following Somewhere to Elsewhere from 2000, and was the first to feature lead vocalist and keyboardist Ronnie Platt, who had replaced longtime singer Steve Walsh. The lineup on the record also included original members Phil Ehart and Rich Williams alongside newer additions Zak Rizvi and David Ragsdale.
