The Weir

description The Weir Overview

The Weir is a 1997 play by Irish dramatist Conor McPherson, set in a small rural pub where several local men entertain a recently arrived woman with stories of supernatural encounters. Their competitive storytelling gradually gives way to vulnerability when she recounts a personal experience of grief and apparent haunting. The play uses conversational speech and a single intimate setting to explore loneliness, community, memory, and the human need to have painful experiences heard.
