The thorny skate, Amblyraja radiata, is a bottom-living cartilaginous fish in the skate family Rajidae found on both sides of the North Atlantic. It is identified by conspicuous rows of thorns, including a prominent group on the nuchal and shoulder region, and is also known as the starry skate or starry ray; the species is relevant to marine biology and North Atlantic fisheries research.
