Tigris & Euphrates

description Tigris & Euphrates Overview

Tigris & Euphrates is a strategic board game where players manage ancient Mesopotamian city-states, navigating trade routes, developing infrastructure, and vying for dominance through diplomacy and warfare along the fertile river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates.

help Tigris & Euphrates FAQ

Why is your weakest color so important in Tigris & Euphrates?

Your final score is determined by the color in which you have the fewest victory points. Reiner Knizia's system therefore rewards balanced development rather than domination in one category.

What is the difference between a revolt and a war in Tigris & Euphrates?

A revolt occurs when two leaders of the same type occupy one kingdom, while a war begins when kingdoms containing matching leaders are connected. Revolts use adjacent red temples, whereas wars are resolved using the relevant colored tiles.

Do players own particular kingdoms in Tigris & Euphrates?

No, kingdoms belong to no player and can contain leaders from several players. Each player controls a dynasty identified by symbols, not one permanent color or territory.

Is Yellow & Yangtze a sequel to Tigris & Euphrates?

Yellow & Yangtze is a later Reiner Knizia design that reworks many of the same kingdom-building and conflict ideas in ancient China. It uses hexagonal tiles and has enough mechanical changes to be a sibling design rather than a direct sequel.
