The tomato hornworm moth, commonly called the five-spotted hawkmoth, is Manduca quinquemaculata, a large sphingid moth native to North America. Its caterpillars are green, usually marked with pale diagonal lines and a horn-like projection at the rear, and feed on plants in the nightshade family. They can damage tomato, potato, tobacco, and related crops before pupating in the soil.
