Tony Abbott is an Australian former politician who led the Liberal Party and served as the country's 28th prime minister from 18 September 2013 to 15 September 2015. He entered the House of Representatives for Warringah in 1994 and held ministerial posts in the Howard government, including minister for health and ageing. As prime minister, his coalition government pursued stronger border-control measures and repealed Australia's carbon-pricing legislation before Abbott was replaced as Liberal leader by Malcolm Turnbull.
