Tragic Kingdom

Tragic Kingdom, the third studio album by American rock band No Doubt, was officially released on October 10, 1995. It was distributed through Trauma Records and Interscope Records. The record eventually dominated the 1990s pop-punk and ska scenes, selling millions of copies worldwide.

The landmark album was produced by Matthew Wilder, an artist himself known for the 1980s pop hit 'Break My Stride.' Wilder helped the Southern California ska band refine their eclectic sound into a polished, radio-ready masterpiece. His production was instrumental in highlighting Gwen Stefani's powerful vocals.

The album features some of the band's biggest and most recognizable hit singles, including 'Just a Girl,' 'Spiderwebs,' and 'Don't Speak.' These tracks dominated MTV and mainstream radio airwaves throughout the mid-to-late 1990s. 'Don't Speak' specifically became a massive international chart-topper.

The album was famously recorded over a grueling three-year period that was plagued by significant internal band tensions. During the recording process, founding member and primary songwriter Eric Stefani abruptly left the band. Furthermore, lead singer Gwen Stefani was dealing with the painful emotional fallout of her breakup with bassist Tony Kanal.
