Trametes hirsuta

description Trametes hirsuta Overview

Trametes hirsuta, known as the hairy bracket or hairy turkey tail, is an annual polypore fungus that grows mainly on dead hardwood. Its fan-shaped to shelf-like fruit bodies are tough and leathery, with a gray to whitish upper surface covered in dense hairs and usually faint concentric zones. The white pore surface releases spores, and the fungus causes white rot as it decomposes wood.
