Triangulum is a small constellation in the northern sky whose principal stars form a distinctive triangular pattern. It is one of the 48 constellations listed by the second-century astronomer Ptolemy and remains one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. The constellation contains the Triangulum Galaxy, also known as Messier 33, a spiral galaxy that belongs to the Local Group.
