Ultraman Nexus

description Ultraman Nexus Overview

Ultraman Nexus is a Japanese tokusatsu television series produced by Tsuburaya Productions and broadcast from 2004 to 2005. It follows members of the secret Night Raiders organization as they fight Space Beasts, while the power of Ultraman Nexus passes between human hosts known as Dunamists. The series uses a darker, serialized story aimed partly at older viewers and forms part of the multimedia Ultra N Project.

help Ultraman Nexus FAQ

Why does Ultraman Nexus have more than one human host?

Nexus's power passes among chosen humans called Dunamists rather than remaining with a single protagonist. Jun Himeya and Ren Senjyu are the principal Dunamists, while Kazuki Komon becomes central to the succession.

Is Ultraman Nexus connected to the movie Ultraman: The Next?

Yes. Ultraman: The Next and Ultraman Nexus belong to Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra N Project and share mythology involving the evolving giant of light and the Space Beasts.

Why is Ultraman Nexus darker than many other Ultraman series?

The story focuses on traumatic encounters, secret memory manipulation, civilian casualties, and the Night Raiders' military response to Space Beasts. Its serialized mystery and somber visual style differ from the more self-contained adventure structure of many earlier Ultra shows.

Was Ultraman Nexus's story shortened during broadcast?

Yes. The 2004 to 2005 television run ended earlier than its creators had originally envisioned, and the later story was compressed. That production history helps explain the rapid movement through Ren Senjyu's arc and the final succession of Dunamists.
