Uncommon Valor is a 1983 American action war film directed by Ted Kotcheff. Gene Hackman plays a retired Marine colonel whose son is believed to have been left behind as a prisoner of war in Southeast Asia. The film follows the colonel's effort to assemble a team of veterans and organize a private mission to search for missing American servicemen in Laos.
