He has lived for an extraordinarily long time and is desperate to find a way to finally end his existence, which is why Fuuko's lethal unluck appeals to him. His quest for death and his growing bond with Fuuko form the emotional backbone of the series.

As of the mid-2020s, the Undead Unluck manga by Yoshifumi Tozuka remains serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime covers only the early arcs, so there is substantially more story available in the manga. The series continues to expand its world of negation abilities and the conflict involving the organization known as Union.
