description USAonWatch Overview
USAonWatch was a name used for the National Sheriffs' Association's National Neighborhood Watch program. It supplied a national framework and educational resources for community-based crime prevention, helping residents work with local law enforcement. The program's materials addressed the development and operation of watch groups rather than offering a commercial security product. Its resources suit volunteers and neighborhood organizers seeking a structured way to establish local cooperation.
Training and guidance can help groups define their responsibilities, with observation and reporting distinguished from law-enforcement work. The program later adopted the National Neighborhood Watch name, so older USAonWatch materials should be understood in that context.
