description Vedauwoo Overview
Vedauwoo is a recreation area and group of granite formations in Wyoming's Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests, on Pole Mountain between Laramie and Cheyenne. The exposed rock is Sherman Granite, an ancient, weathered formation shaped into slabs, boulders, outcrops, and fractured faces. These features make Vedauwoo a destination for rock climbing, hiking, camping, and geological observation, with crack climbing especially associated with its narrow granite fissures. It is managed as a public forest recreation site.
