West Coast Eagles

The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian Rules Football (AFL) club representing the state of Western Australia. They compete in the premier Australian Football League, which is the highest level of the sport. The team plays its home games primarily at Optus Stadium in Perth.

The Eagles have won four AFL premierships throughout their history, capturing their first flag in 1992. This historic victory made them the first non-Victorian team to ever win the AFL premiership. They followed up this success with additional premierships in 1994, 2006, and most recently in 2018.

The West Coast Eagles play their home matches at Optus Stadium, located in the Burswood area of Perth. Before moving to Optus Stadium in 2018, they spent decades playing at the iconic Subiaco Oval. The new stadium provides state-of-the-art facilities for both players and fans.

The Eagles' most intense rivalry is with their cross-town competitors, the Fremantle Dockers, with their head-to-head matches famously known as the "Western Derby." Because they are the only two AFL teams based in Western Australia, these games carry massive local bragging rights. Historically, the Eagles have also shared strong interstate rivalries with powerhouse clubs like the Sydney Swans.
