Do I need a WeTransfer account to send files now?

Yes. Since November 2024, senders must verify an email address, which creates or uses a free WeTransfer account, although recipients can still download files without an account.

How much can I send with the current free WeTransfer plan?

The current free plan allows transfers of up to 3 GB per transfer, but it also limits users to 10 transfers or 3 GB total during a 30-day period. Older descriptions often quote a 2 GB limit, which is no longer the current free-plan figure.

How long do free WeTransfer links last?

Free-account transfers can remain active for 1 to 3 days, depending on the plan and current settings. The sender can see the expiry information in the Transfers overview, so a free link should not be treated as permanent storage.

Should I use a WeTransfer email transfer or a link transfer?

An email transfer sends the download details directly to chosen recipient addresses, while a link transfer gives you a URL that you can share yourself. A link is usually more convenient when several people need the same files.
