Willy Chavarria

Willy Chavarria is known for menswear that blends minimalist, oversized tailoring with elements of streetwear, Chicano culture, and religious iconography. His collections frequently address political themes such as immigration, systemic racism, and Latino identity, often presenting a stark contrast between elevated craftsmanship and working-class visual references.

Chavarria is of Mexican and Irish descent and was raised in California's Central Valley before moving to New York City. His Chicano heritage deeply informs his designs, which incorporate references to Mexican-American culture, lowrider aesthetics, Catholic imagery, and the clothing traditions of Latino working-class communities.

Before launching his eponymous brand, Chavarria served as vice president of men's design at Calvin Klein under then-creative director Raf Simons. He also held earlier design positions at Ralph Lauren and other American apparel companies, bringing decades of mainstream industry experience to his independent label.

Willy Chavarria has been recognized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and has been a multiple-time nominee for the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year award in the 2020s. His runway shows during New York Fashion Week have drawn consistent critical acclaim for their combination of social commentary and precise tailoring.
