McCay is best known for his pioneering comic strips *Little Nemo in Slumberland*, which debuted in the New York Herald in 1905, and *Dreams of a Rarebit Fiend*. *Little Nemo* is celebrated for its incredible Art Nouveau architecture, imaginative surrealism, and precise, intricate line work.
