The Yergeni Steppe is a dry-steppe and semi-desert landscape associated with the Yergeni upland in southern European Russia. The upland extends for about 350 km from the Volga near Volgograd toward the Manych valley, across Kalmykia and adjacent parts of Volgograd and Rostov oblasts. It is an asymmetric plateau: the western slope is relatively gentle, while the eastern side descends more sharply toward the Caspian Lowland and is deeply cut by ravines.
