description Yoon Suk-yeol Overview
Yoon Suk-yeol is a South Korean politician and former prosecutor general who won the March 2022 presidential election as the candidate of the conservative People Power Party and took office in May 2022. In December 2024 he declared a short-lived martial law that was lifted within hours after the National Assembly acted against it. The Assembly subsequently impeached him, and the Constitutional Court removed him from office in April 2025 when it upheld the impeachment.
