The Brittas Empire is a British sitcom produced by the BBC that aired from 1991 to 1997 across seven series. It stars Chris Barrie as Gordon Brittas, the well-meaning but catastrophically incompetent manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre in southern England. The show was created by Andrew Norriss and Richard Fegen and blends conventional sitcom humor with increasingly surreal and absurdist elements, including dream sequences and apparent character deaths. Barrie is also known for his role as Arnold Rimmer in the BBC science fiction comedy Red Dwarf.
