Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Monza is known as the "Temple of Speed" and produces the highest average speeds on the Formula 1 calendar, often exceeding 260 km/h (160 mph) over a full race lap. Long straights connected by fast chicanes and minimal slow corners make it the fastest circuit in the sport.

The original 1922 circuit included a high-speed banked oval that could be combined with the road course into a roughly 10-kilometer layout. The banking was last used for Formula 1 in 1961, and the modern Grand Prix circuit is approximately 5.793 kilometers without the oval.

The Curva Grande is a long, sweeping right-hand corner that follows the main straight at Monza, taken nearly flat-out at full speed in modern Formula 1 cars. It was the site of the controversial 2016 collision between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg on the opening lap of the Italian Grand Prix.

Monza has hosted a Formula 1 race every season since the world championship began in 1950, with the sole exception of 1980 when the Italian Grand Prix was held at Imola. It is the only circuit to have appeared on the calendar in every decade of the championship's existence.
