description Croaghaun Cliffs Overview
The Croaghaun Cliffs rise on the northern side of Croaghaun Mountain at the western end of Achill Island in County Mayo, Ireland. Reaching approximately 688 metres above the Atlantic, they are Ireland's highest sea cliffs and among the highest in Europe, although much of their full face is difficult to see from land. They are approached through exposed mountain terrain and are primarily of interest to experienced hikers, geologists, and coastal landscape observers.
