Pebax Rnew by Arkema

description Pebax Rnew by Arkema Overview

Pebax Rnew is a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer produced from Econyl®, a regenerated nylon fiber created through the recycling of ocean plastic waste and textile scraps, offering a sustainable material solution for demanding applications.

help Pebax Rnew by Arkema FAQ

Is Pebax Rnew made from recycled ocean plastic or ECONYL?

No. Arkema's Pebax Rnew grades are partly derived from renewable castor beans, while ECONYL is Aquafil's regenerated nylon made from recovered waste; they are separate material families.

What percentage of Pebax Rnew is bio-based?

The renewable content varies by grade rather than having one universal percentage. Some Arkema grades contain a large majority of carbon from renewable sources, so designers should consult the specific grade's technical data sheet.

Why is Pebax Rnew used in high-performance running shoes?

Its low density, flexibility, and strong energy return make it useful in lightweight midsoles and plates. Brands use Pebax-based foams and components where repeated compression and rebound matter, particularly in racing footwear.

Is Pebax Rnew the same as ordinary nylon 11?

No. Pebax is a polyether block amide elastomer combining rigid polyamide blocks with flexible polyether blocks, whereas Rilsan PA11 is a more conventional bio-based polyamide. Both are Arkema material families and can use castor-derived feedstock, but their mechanical behavior differs.
