description Rosasite Overview
Rosasite is a secondary copper-zinc carbonate hydroxide mineral with the approximate formula (Cu,Zn)2CO3(OH)2. It commonly forms blue, blue-green, or green botryoidal, mammillary, or fibrous crusts in the oxidized zones of copper and zinc deposits. First described from the Rosas Mine near Narcao in Sardinia, Italy, it is chiefly collected as a mineral specimen and is also studied as part of the alteration mineralogy of base-metal deposits.
