Zebra Puzzle

There is no firm evidence that Albert Einstein actually created the Zebra Puzzle, despite the popular rumor. The earliest known publication of the puzzle appeared in Life International magazine in 1962.

The puzzle requires you to deduce that there are five houses, each with a distinct nationality, color, pet, drink, and cigarette brand. Using a series of 15 clues, the solver must figure out who owns the zebra and who drinks water.

The best way to solve it is by drawing a grid to map out the 25 variables (5 options for 5 categories). By systematically crossing off impossibilities and matching certainties, you can logically deduce the correct alignment for each house.

The popular, albeit unverifiable, lore attached to the puzzle claims that Einstein believed only 2% of the world's population could solve it. In reality, anyone with patience and a basic understanding of logic grids can find the solution.
