Cirque de Consolation

It is in the Jura massif near the commune of Consolation-Maisonnettes in France's Doubs department, close to the Swiss border. The landform is a steephead valley known in French as a reculée. [Doubs Tourism](https://www.doubs.travel/cascades/val-de-consolation)

The key religious buildings are actually mainly seventeenth-century: the Minimes monastery was built between 1671 and 1673, and the Notre-Dame de Consolation chapel was completed in 1682. The site includes the source of the Dessoubre River and the Lançot waterfall. The Lançot falls are about 46 meters high, although their flow depends on groundwater levels and recent rain.
