description Gan River Overview
The Gan River is the principal river of Jiangxi Province in southeastern China. It flows generally northward for about 750 kilometres, passes through or near major cities including Ganzhou and Nanchang, and empties into Poyang Lake. Water leaving that lake reaches the Yangtze River, making the Gan part of the Yangtze drainage system and an important regional corridor for settlement, agriculture, and transportation.
