Parmaturus xaniurus, commonly called the filetail catshark, is a small deep-water shark from the eastern Pacific Ocean. Its known range extends along the Pacific coast of North America from California to Mexico. The species has a slender body and a distinctive caudal fin whose narrow, extended upper portion gives the tail a filament-like appearance.
