help ADATA HD Extreme 2TB FAQ

What is the exact ADATA model behind HD Extreme 2TB?

I could not verify an ADATA product officially named HD Extreme. ADATA's real 2TB rugged lines include the HD710 Pro and HD720, so ask for the model code printed on the drive before buying. [ADATA HD710 Pro](https://www.adata.com/storage/downloadfile/datasheet_hd710_pro_external_hard_drive_v2.pdf)

Is it a hard drive or an SSD?

The listing describes a simple external HDD, not an SSD. A 2TB HD710 Pro, for example, uses USB 3.2 Gen1 and a rugged three-layer enclosure, so it is aimed at capacity and portability rather than SSD-level speed. Can it survive water and drops?

That depends on which ADATA model the seller actually means: the HD710 Pro is rated beyond IPX8 for 2 meters of water for 60 minutes and a 1.5-meter drop test. Those ratings apply only when the USB cover is properly closed, so they should not be copied to an unnamed HD Extreme drive. Will it work with a Mac?

ADATA lists macOS compatibility for its rugged drives, but the drive may need reformatting before use. Confirm the exact model and file-system choice because formatting affects whether it is ready for Windows, macOS, or both. [ADATA](https://www.adata.com/cl/consumer/category/portable-storage/478/)
