description 107 Camilla Overview

107 Camilla is a large asteroid in the outer main belt and a member of the Cybele group. Norman Pogson discovered it at Madras Observatory on 17 November 1868, and its name refers to Camilla, a warrior queen in Roman mythology. Observations with the Hubble Space Telescope identified a satellite in 2001, and later studies established Camilla as a multiple-asteroid system of interest to researchers studying the composition and dynamics of outer-belt bodies.
