121 Hermione

description 121 Hermione Overview

121 Hermione is a large C-type asteroid in the outer main belt, where it is associated with the Cybele group. James Craig Watson discovered it in 1872. Astronomers later found that Hermione has a small natural satellite, making it a binary system, and observations show an irregular, elongated primary rather than a nearly spherical body. Its name comes from Hermione in Greek mythology, the daughter of Menelaus and Helen.
