description 35 Leukothea Overview
35 Leukothea is a dark C-type asteroid in the outer main asteroid belt. Karl Theodor Robert Luther discovered it on 19 April 1855 at the Düsseldorf Observatory, and later observations estimate a diameter of about 103 kilometres and a rotation period of roughly 31.9 hours. Its C-type classification is consistent with a carbonaceous, low-reflectivity surface, while its name comes from Leukothea, a sea deity in Greek mythology.
