The African Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus), also known as the pixie frog, is a large burrowing amphibian native to sub-Saharan Africa. Males can reach snout-to-vent lengths exceeding 20 cm and weigh over 2 kg, making them among the largest anurans on the continent. They are ambush predators that consume insects, small rodents, reptiles, and other amphibians, and during dry periods they estivate underground in a mucous cocoon.
