description Amphioctopus ovulum Overview
Amphioctopus ovulum (Sasaki, 1917) is a small to moderate-sized benthic octopus in the family Octopodidae, recorded from coastal waters of eastern Asia and studied in the East China Sea. Its identifying features include an iridescent violet ring in the dark ocellus between the bases of arms II and III, while its numerous very small eggs distinguish it from some similar violet-ringed Amphioctopus. Recent research notes that its biology and population status remain poorly documented. [Redescription](https://doi.org/10.1071/IS20002) [Frontiers](https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2025.1573253)
