Amphithéâtre d'Autun

description Amphithéâtre d'Autun Overview

Amphithéâtre d'Autun was a Roman amphitheatre in Augustodunum, the ancient city at modern Autun in Saône-et-Loire, France. Built in the second half of the first century CE, it formed part of the monumental complex of the Aeduan capital and was one of the large amphitheatres of the Roman Empire. The structure disappeared by the eighteenth century; its location is identified by a depression near Autun's surviving ancient theatre.
