description Aplos Overview
Designed for nonprofits and churches, Aplos provides cloud-based accounting centered on fund accounting. This approach helps organizations keep resources assigned to different purposes distinct, including restricted donations. Its nonprofit focus extends to donor management and reporting, giving financial records context that generic small-business bookkeeping may not emphasize. Grant-related funds and donations can be organized alongside the accounting work, helping staff understand how money has been received and used.
The platform suits organizations that want nonprofit financial administration within an accessible online system. Dedicated support and an interface aimed at this audience are part of its appeal, but software does not itself guarantee compliance. Its main distinction is treating funds and donor activity as core needs rather than secondary additions to ordinary business accounting.
help Aplos FAQ
Can Aplos handle fund accounting for non-profits?
Yes, Aplos is specifically built to manage true fund accounting, making it easy for non-profits to track restricted and unrestricted funds separately. This ensures organizations can accurately report on how specific grants and donations are spent.
Does Aplos integrate with donor management software?
Aplos actually features a built-in donor management system alongside its core accounting modules. You can track individual contribution statements, send emails, and manage fundraising campaigns directly within the same platform.
Is Aplos compatible with QuickBooks?
While Aplos can function as a standalone system, it does not offer a direct, seamless integration with QuickBooks Online. Because Aplos is designed specifically to do what QuickBooks struggles with—true fund accounting—most non-profits choose to fully migrate their books over to Aplos.
