Biak glider

description Biak glider Overview

The Biak glider is an arboreal marsupial of the family Petauridae that is endemic to Indonesia's Schouten Islands, including Biak, off the northern coast of New Guinea. Described by Ulmer in 1940, it was formerly classified as a subspecies of the sugar glider but has also been treated as a distinct species. Like related gliders, it is adapted to life in trees and possesses a membrane between the limbs that supports controlled gliding between branches.
