The black-throated mango (*Anthracothorax nigricollis*) is a hummingbird species found across eastern and northern South America, including the Amazon Basin and Trinidad. Males are distinguished by their vibrant green upperparts and a central black stripe running down their throat and chest to the belly. Females and juveniles share the green back but feature greyish-white underparts with a dark central stripe. Described by Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1817, the species inhabits gardens, forest edges, and cultivated areas where it feeds on nectar and insects.
