The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is a twin-engine maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft derived from the Boeing 737-800ERX. Introduced into United States Navy service in 2013, it performs anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence gathering, surveillance, and search missions using modern sensors and networked systems. It was developed to replace the P-3 Orion and is also operated or ordered by several allied countries.
