Buphaya Pagoda, also written Bupaya, is a Buddhist pagoda on a bend of the Ayeyarwady River in Old Bagan, Myanmar. Its compact, cylindrical or gourd-like form distinguishes it from the larger temple monuments that surround it. Traditional accounts place the original structure in the early Bagan era and sometimes attribute it to King Pyusawhti, but that early date is not secure because the old pagoda was destroyed in the 1975 earthquake. The visible monument is a post-earthquake reconstruction in the historic riverside setting.
