Butkara Stupa I is a Buddhist monument in the Butkara archaeological complex near Mingora in Pakistan's Swat Valley. Its earliest construction is traditionally associated with the Mauryan period and Emperor Ashoka, after which the monument was enlarged and altered over several centuries. The site contains stone architectural elements and sculptures that illustrate the development of Buddhist art in the ancient Gandharan region.
