description California Sister Overview

The California Sister (*Adelpha californica*) is a North American butterfly in the Nymphalidae family, predominantly found along the Pacific Coast from Oregon down to Baja California. The species is characterized by its dark brown or blackish wings, prominently featuring a striking diagonal orange bar and white spots across the upper surfaces. Its common name derives from its close physical resemblance to the related Admiral butterflies.
