Campo Sujo

description Campo Sujo Overview

Campo sujo is a type of savanna vegetation within the Brazilian Cerrado biome, characterized by a continuous grassy ground layer with scattered low shrubs and small trees. It is distinguished from campo limpo, a nearly shrubless grassland, and from more densely wooded Cerrado formations such as cerrado sensu stricto and cerradão. These grass-dominated physiognomies occur on well-drained, nutrient-poor soils and are maintained by seasonal rainfall and recurring fire.
