The Chacoan gracile opossum is the didelphid marsupial Cryptonanus chacoensis, also called the Chacoan mouse opossum. George H. H. Tate described the taxon in 1931 as Marmosa agilis chacoensis, and later work placed it in the genus Cryptonanus.
It is known from northern Argentina and Paraguay and from the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, in and around the Gran Chaco region.
