Checkless Chess

description Checkless Chess Overview

Checkless Chess is a chess variant in which a player may not make a move that places the opposing king in check unless that same move also produces checkmate. This removes ordinary checking moves as intermediate threats and changes how players create forced positions, because an attack that would be legal in orthodox chess can be illegal here when it gives check without ending the game. The aim remains to checkmate the opposing king.
