Chetumal Bay is a shallow inlet of the Caribbean Sea located on the border between Mexico and Belize. The Hondo River, which forms part of the international boundary, flows into the bay. On its northern shore lies Chetumal, the capital of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The surrounding mangrove ecosystems serve as an important habitat for the vulnerable West Indian manatee.
