Cloudflare Gateway

Cloudflare Gateway applies internet security policies through Cloudflare's network, with DNS filtering as one part of its wider service. DNS rules can block requests for selected domains, including known malicious destinations or content categories an organization chooses to restrict. Administrators can also use network and HTTP policies where the relevant traffic is routed through Gateway. Logging helps explain which requests were allowed or blocked.

The service suits organizations and technically experienced users managing access across groups of devices. Its distinction from a simple router blocklist is centralized policy management with several layers of filtering. Domain rules can restrict selected advertising or tracking destinations, but DNS filtering cannot remove every advertisement or inspect individual page elements. Broader inspection requires the appropriate configuration.
