description D. M. S. Watson Overview
David Meredith Seares Watson (1886–1965) was a British vertebrate paleontologist who held the chair of zoology at University College London from 1921 to 1951. His research concentrated on early tetrapods, fossil reptiles, and the evolutionary transition from fish to land-dwelling vertebrates, with significant published work on forms such as Eusthenopteron and various Permian and Triassic reptiles. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and influenced a generation of British paleontologists.
