description Daniel Levinson Overview
Daniel J. Levinson (1920-1994) was an American psychologist whose research helped establish adult development as a major topic in psychology. In The Seasons of a Man's Life, published in 1978 with collaborators, he used intensive interviews with 40 men to propose that adult lives are organized into eras, transitions, and changing life structures. His work is associated with the study of midlife transitions and with a later companion volume on women's lives completed after his death.
